My boys are gifting their handprint crafts to my husband for Christmas this year (shhh!) so we wanted to make each one unique. Eldest Child's is painted as snowmen with a blue sky background and play clay carrot noses. Middle Child's is a Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer with Bendaroos antlers, a red felt nose and a gold bead harness. And Baby went crazy with the red, gold and green paint for his colourful handprint.

  1. Adorable! I really like the snowman one. How did you get the noses to stick?

    1. We molded them out of play clay & my son just smooshed them on. I guess they stay in place because the clay is porous, even when it's painted.

  2. I've made other crafts out of salt dough before, is it not too heavy to hang on the tree as an ornament?

  3. You're right, I wouldn't recommend hanging large salt dough ornaments on a tree - our larger handprint ones are displayed on miniature picture easels (dollar store) but we hung the cookie cutter ones on the tree and they were just fine!
